The FRAG University tournament in Syracuse, New York has reached its final day after two intense days of competition. Teams are battling for their share of the $25,000 prize pool and crucial points toward qualifying for the PGL Singapore Major.
The playoff bracket featured several surprising results, but the four favorites—Wildcard, DENDELE, Imperial, and NRG—remain standing. Each squad has significant stakes in the tournament, as strong performances could secure their path to the Major.
Wildcard and DENDELE emerged as the strongest contenders, both maintaining perfect records through the group stage and playoffs. Their collision in the upper bracket final determined who would claim the first spot in the grand final.
The match opened on Wildcard's Mirage selection, where they grabbed the T-side pistol and subsequent rounds. DENDELE responded with an impressive 8-1 streak to build a substantial advantage heading into halftime. After Wildcard won the second pistol to narrow the deficit, DENDELE reached map point with a 12-8 lead. Wildcard demonstrated resilience, winning four consecutive rounds to force overtime.
Despite DENDELE taking the first overtime round, Wildcard rallied to win four straight, closing out the map 16-13. AWPer Sebastian "fr3nd" Kuśmierz delivered a stellar performance with 83.3 ADR, 19 CT-side kills, and a 1.52 rating.
On DENDELE's Cache pick, Wildcard carried their momentum with a 5-0 start. Though DENDELE managed a few rounds, Wildcard entered the T-side commanding a 9-3 lead. They secured their fourth pistol round of the series and rapidly finished the map 13-3, claiming their grand final spot.
Three matches remain. Imperial and NRG are currently locked in a three-map lower bracket final. The victor will meet DENDELE in the consolidation final to determine the second grand finalist.
