Sashi recruit Australian pair for Asia VRS push

Danish organization Sashi has pulled off an unexpected roster move by bringing in two Australian players on temporary contracts as part of their strategy to secure a spot at the PGL Major Singapore.

The team has added Tynan "TjP" Purtell from THUNDER dOWNUNDER and Jordan "Hatz" Bajic, formerly of Renegades, for a limited period. This switch positions Sashi to compete in the Asia VRS, as they now have three players from the region—Anton "Anlelele" Huynh reportedly holds Vietnamese citizenship.

Sashi explicitly stated this arrangement is short-term, with Mikkel "MistR" Thomsen and Casper "Cabbi" Jensen temporarily stepping away from active duty for approximately one month.

Hatz hasn't competed in HLTV-covered events since July 2024 with Rooster during ESL Challenger League Season 48. TjP joined THUNDER dOWNUNDER when it formed in October 2025 and participated at IEM Cologne Major representing Asia.

Currently sitting at 54th in Europe VRS with 1122 Valve points, switching to Asia would immediately place Sashi fifth in that region's rankings. However, recent projections estimate only a 13% qualification probability for Singapore.

The decision has sparked backlash across the community. Falcons player Nikola "NiKo" Kovač called on Valve to intervene, while Dfrag founder Daniel "Mavrick" Lang warned that regional manipulation threatens the future of Asian and Oceanic Counter-Strike development.

The revamped roster debuts Wednesday in qualifiers for 1win Private Club Season 2, followed by Stake Pulse Beat III in Stockholm next week.
