The 23-year-old Bulgarian rifler achieved this milestone during INFURITY's marathon battle against Inner Circle Academy at Urban Riga Open Season 7 in Riga, Latvia. Despite his heroic efforts, INFURITY fell short with a final score of 29-31 after six grueling overtime periods.
This achievement breaks a record that had remained untouched for nearly 12 months. The previous benchmark of 60 kills was shared by Alexander "Altekz" Givskov and Nils "k1to" Gruhne, both set during an AM versus Nexus clash at Digital Crusade DraculaN Season 2.
When considering all competitive matches regardless of format, AwaykeN's feat ranks as the joint-third highest in CS2 history. Only Adrian "xelex" Vincze's 67 eliminations and Dmitry "sstiNiX" Khlebnikov's 63-kill game stand above this mark.
The record books also show impressive performances from players like reck and slaxz-, who both posted 58 kills against fnatic, while mopoz and pain have also reached the 62-kill plateau in online competition.
