XSE Responds to Guangzhou Event Controversies, Fires Lead Administrator

July 7, 20262 min read

XSE has issued an official response following widespread criticism of their $1,000,000 Pro League event in Guangzhou, which experienced significant operational challenges during its group stage.

The tournament faced intense scrutiny after severe technical difficulties caused substantial delays during the opening two days of competition. Players and community members raised multiple concerns throughout the group stage, with some reporting the discovery of malicious software on competition computers.

In their statement, XSE acknowledged being insufficiently prepared for the technical complications that emerged on day one. They confirmed that a power outage was responsible for disruptions on the second day, contradicting earlier speculation about the cause.

The organization detailed several corrective actions taken in response to the problems. Most significantly, they terminated the lead administrator who oversaw the troubled operations. Additionally, XSE completely wiped and reinstalled operating systems on affected machines and replaced multiple practice room computers.

A particularly concerning incident involved the hacking of player Kirill Rodnov's Steam account, which XSE specifically addressed in their statement alongside the malware reports.

The playoffs are scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 9. Organizers noted that later group stage matches proceeded with considerably fewer delays, suggesting improvements were implemented during the event.

The comprehensive statement represents XSE's attempt to restore confidence ahead of the tournament's final stages, following days of operational difficulties that overshadowed the competition itself.
