MOUZ's young talent Adrian 'xelex' Vincze sat down with HLTV ahead of ESL Pro League in Katowice to discuss his journey in tier-one competition and the team's recent struggles.
The European squad arrived in Poland following a disappointing StarSeries Fall performance, where they fell to NRG in the opening match and exited early with only a single victory against Natus Vincere. Reflecting on the Barcelona showing, the rifler acknowledged uncertainty about what went wrong. The team has since regrouped through open discussions about their performance and feelings.
Returning to Katowice holds special significance for xelex, as this venue marked his MOUZ debut. While that initial appearance wasn't their strongest showing, he's optimistic about improved results this time around. His growth since then has been substantial, particularly in how he analyzes the game and handles details.
Regarding his playing identity, xelex revealed he's gravitating toward an aggressive anchor style. Coming from MOUZ NXT where his role was simply 'star player,' he's now defining his approach in top-tier competition. His natural aim advantage drives his preference for pushing and taking initiative rather than sitting passively, though certain anchor positions require patience.
The Hungarian player confirmed he's comfortable on every map now, including Dust2 where he previously struggled on B site but feels confident playing Long. He's aware opponents study his tendencies but counters this by reviewing his recent official matches and switching positions strategically.
Looking at recent form, xelex noted significant improvement since BLAST Open Porto and EWC, where mental challenges affected his play. Better managing his mindset has allowed him to perform at the level he desires. He's focused on simply playing strong Counter-Strike at Pro League, with VRS points at stake and the potential arena experience adding motivation.
