North American esports giant Team Liquid has made a significant roster move by acquiring 17-year-old Bulgarian AWPer Georgi "Jorko" Mitev. The young talent arrives as a direct replacement for Polish player Roland "ultimate" Tomkowiak, who had spent two years with the organization before being benched.
Jorko comes to Liquid after spending five months with FOKUS, where he competed in various Tier 2 competitions with notable success. His professional journey also includes stints with established European organizations such as Copenhagen Wolves and MOUZ's academy setup. This move to Team Liquid represents his first opportunity to compete at the highest level of Counter-Strike.
The announcement came shortly after Liquid confirmed ultimate's benching earlier today. Jorko is expected to debut with his new team at the BLAST Bounty Summer Online Qualifiers, which kick off on July 21. He joins a roster featuring Keith "NAF" Markovic, IGL Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski, and Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa, with Viktor "flashie" Tamás Bea as coach.
Team Liquid has struggled to recapture past glory, having gone more than five years without major tournament victories. The 2026 season has been particularly challenging, with their best showing being a top-8 placement at BLAST Bounty Winter and a disappointing 25th-27th finish at the recent Major.
While Jorko lacks top-tier experience, his resume includes victories over respectable opponents like Fnatic, Inner Circle, Passion UA, and BC.Game during his time with FOKUS. He maintains a solid 1.08 career rating, suggesting strong individual performance. Industry sources also indicate Liquid may be pursuing additional changes, including a new in-game leader, though no official confirmation has emerged.
