s1n on M80's Third Place Finish: "We Pulled Rounds Out of Our Ass"

October 1, 20262 min read

M80 claimed third place at iBUYPOWER Masters fl0m's Mythical LAN 2026 after a thrilling battle against DENDELE in what turned out to be the closest series of the North American event. Team leader Elias "s1n" Stein sat down with Dust2.us to discuss the performance and what lies ahead.

The rematch against the Brazilian squad proved redemptive for M80. The first encounter had been messy, coming as their second game of the day with little preparation time. The return fixture went the distance to three maps and overtime, with s1n expressing satisfaction at emerging victorious from such a competitive fight.

Reflecting on the overall tournament performance, the in-game leader acknowledged mixed feelings. The team faced challenging circumstances with an 8 AM media day followed by a 1 PM match the next day, leaving little time for rest or adjustment. While the results weren't disastrous, certain weaknesses became apparent. The Cache map against Liquid particularly stung as a missed opportunity, along with allowing DENDELE's comeback on Ancient in their first meeting.

Looking forward, s1n identified two key improvement areas for the remainder of the season. First, evening out the map pool by boosting their weaker maps. Second, maintaining composure and activity during difficult situations rather than becoming passive.

On the confidence front, the IGL believes the team is trending positively despite not playing at peak performance during this event. The squad has consciously embraced the aggressive North American style of play, bringing that energy to every server.

Regarding their upcoming EPL opener against MOUZ, s1n showed respect but no fear. He noted MOUZ plays reasonably and predictably, making them easier to study and counter. After their loss to NRG, the European squad might be vulnerable. With M80 ranked lower in VRS points, they have nothing to lose.

When asked about individual heroics, s1n was confident his roster could deliver. The tournament showcased numerous rounds where M80 players simply took over through raw skill and unexpected plays. He expects more of the same against top-tier opposition.

Ultimately, while hoping to defend their title or reach the finals, s1n expressed contentment with third place given the circumstances. The focus now shifts to EPL and the approaching Major, where M80 aims to prove themselves on the biggest stages.
