Fresh off their ECL S52 Europe Cup 4 triumph against OG, Metizport have secured another important win. The squad led by Peter Jarguz claimed a hard-fought 2-0 series victory against 9INE in the Logitech G Play Connect Closed Qualifier, booking their ticket to the Polish LAN event. Though the match ended in two maps, the round totals resembled something closer to a five-map series.
The LAN roster features strong competition including B8, GamerLegion, NIP, Luminosity, M80, and Liquid. Notably, Jarguz previously competed for Liquid back in 2017.
Metizport opened on their Nuke selection and dominated early with a 9-3 terrorist half after converting the pistol round. They captured the second pistol as well, but 9INE mounted a comeback to reach match point first. Metizport forced overtime by winning the final regulation round.
The overtime period became a marathon, with both teams trading rounds evenly. For four consecutive halves, the attacking side claimed two rounds each, keeping the score deadlocked at 18-18 heading into the third overtime. After both squads exchanged rounds again in the third and fourth overtimes, Metizport finally broke through with three consecutive CT rounds to close out the map 25-23.
The Ancient map, chosen by 9INE, maintained the competitive intensity. Following a back-and-forth first half that ended 5-7 in 9INE's favor, the deficit grew to 6-11. Metizport responded with seven straight rounds to seal the 13-11 victory, barely avoiding another overtime scenario.
Czech AWPer David Bílý delivered an exceptional performance with 66 eliminations, 91 average damage per round, and a 1.54 rating. Maciej Biliński ranked second on the server with a 1.16 rating and 75.7 average damage.
The Logitech G Play Connect LAN kicks off in eleven days on September 17th.
