KODEX announces coaching change as Toasty departs from active roster

October 1, 20262 min read

KODEX has unveiled significant roster adjustments following their recent addition of Andrew "celery" Pylko roughly three weeks ago. The organization announced on September 29th that Leroy "OrangeZ" Burns would take over as their new head coach, coming just two weeks after he left his position with DETONATE.

John "Toasty" Hill announced his departure the following day, explaining that he needed to step back from the team after only one month. He pointed to challenges balancing practice schedules with his educational responsibilities as the primary factor behind his decision to leave.

OrangeZ brings considerable experience from the North American scene, having previously worked with Zomblers before joining DETONATE. His appointment represents a milestone for KODEX, marking the first time the organization has brought on an official coach since entering the Counter-Strike scene in late August.

Toasty had been part of KODEX from the beginning, joining when the organization first entered Counter-Strike with members from the former Foxtrot lineup. Under his tenure, the squad posted a 9-5 record during the regular season of Advanced S58 before falling in the playoffs to Playing for fun and Fathom. The team also competed respectably at FRAG St. Louis and during CROSSFIRE Season 6.

Dalton "dopplahs" Hanley indicated the team is actively searching for an in-game leader, with no immediate replacement currently lined up. The current KODEX lineup features dopplahs, Nick "kenny" Gomulka, Joe "JSP" Chmielewski, celery, and OrangeZ in the coaching role.
