FUT Esports has completed the acquisition of Spanish AWPer Álvaro "SunPayus" García, bringing the 27-year-old veteran into their CS2 roster as the primary sniper. The move sees him taking over from Nikita 'cmtry' Samolotov in the starting five.
SunPayus's journey with G2 Esports lasted 14 months, beginning in July 2025 when he joined from HEROIC alongside coach Eetu "sAw" Saha. His time with G2 produced notable achievements, including a BLAST Open Fall 2025 championship where they overcame Team Vitality 3–2 in the finals—a significant accomplishment against one of 2025's most dominant squads. The team also claimed victory at Stake Ranked Episode 1 in April 2026 and reached the quarterfinals at IEM Cologne Major 2026.
However, G2's performance eventually stagnated as competition intensified. The organization decided to pursue a more aggressive AWP style, moving SunPayus to the inactive roster on June 25, 2026, and bringing in Artem "r1nkle" Moroz. After spending three months sidelined, SunPayus received his official release on September 29, 2026.
FUT's decision to restructure stems from cmtry's recent struggles. Despite impressive early-season results—including a PGL Bucharest 2026 championship and runner-up finish at Esports World Cup 2026—cmtry's individual performance declined sharply over recent months. This downturn contributed to FUT's disappointing showings at IEM Cologne Major 2026 and BLAST Open Fall 2026.
The revamped FUT lineup now features dem0n, Krabeni, dziugss, xfl0ud, and SunPayus, guided by head coach András "coolio" Fercsák. Their first appearance together will be at PGL Masters Bucharest 2026, scheduled to begin October 24, 2026.
