FUT have officially announced the addition of Álvaro "SunPayus" García to their roster, acquiring the AWPer from G2's bench. The move confirms earlier reports and sees the 27-year-old Spaniard take over the primary sniping duties.
SunPayus had been inactive since the Cologne Major, when G2 placed him on the bench during the summer break. That decision cleared the path for G2 to bring in Artem "r1nkle" Moroz from Ninjas in Pyjamas.
The Spanish player brings substantial experience to a youthful FUT squad that previously averaged just 20.3 years of age. He's expected to contribute as a secondary in-game leader while providing a significant upgrade in AWPing capability compared to his predecessor, though his rifling statistics are notably weaker.
Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov, the player being replaced, departs after an extended run with the organization. The Ukrainian came up through Natus Vincere's development system, playing for both NAVI Youth and NAVI Junior before the core roster was acquired by FUT in August 2025.
Cmtry enjoyed a career highlight when FUT captured the PGL Bucharest title in April 2026, earning his first MVP honor. However, his 2026 performance has been inconsistent, with only a 1.00 rating across LAN competitions.
SunPayus will have roughly three weeks to integrate with his new squad before FUT return to competition at PGL Masters Bucharest on October 24.
