FURIA have clinched their place in the Thunderpick World Championship playoffs following a hard-fought 2-1 series win against Legacy. The Brazilian squad took victories on Inferno (13-5) and Mirage (13-8), despite dropping the opening map Cache (10-13).
This matchup served as a South American rivalry showdown, with Legacy having previously defeated FURIA twice this season at both the Esports World Cup and FISSURE Playground 3. Looking to break that streak, FURIA adjusted their map selection strategy, leaving Inferno available while selecting Cache themselves. They also implemented tactical changes, notably moving Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo from his typical B support position to a rotator role on Inferno's CT side.
Cache proved challenging for FURIA as both teams battled through multiple force-buy rounds before Legacy established control with a 7-5 halftime lead. Legacy extended their advantage to 10-5 after winning the second-half pistol round. Although FURIA mounted a comeback attempt, Eduardo "dumau" Wolkmer's ace on an eco round sealed the map for Legacy.
The tide shifted dramatically on Inferno, where FURIA's CT side dominated through consistent opening frags and FalleN's excellent rotations. Despite clutch plays from Bruno "latto" Rebelatto and Santino "try" Rigal mid-half, FURIA held an 8-4 advantage at the break. Another force-buy victory propelled their T-side to a commanding map win.
FURIA maintained their momentum on Mirage with methodical, patient offense that systematically dismantled Legacy's defense. Though Legacy showed early promise on their attack, a late-round surge by Danil "molodoy" Golubenko and a crucial 1v2 clutch from FalleN secured the series.
FURIA now advance directly to the playoffs, while Legacy must face BETBOOM in their final group stage match to determine their playoff fate.
