ESL Reveals IEM Cologne 2027 with Revolutionary 360° Stage; Tickets Available October 15

October 1, 20262 min read

ESL has confirmed that Counter-Strike esports will make its way back to Cologne for another spectacular edition. The 2027 tournament is scheduled to begin on August 4 at the LANXESS arena, bringing together the world's elite Counter-Strike teams.

A major innovation for this edition will be the introduction of a 360-degree stage setup, marking a first for the event. This new configuration will enable a significantly larger number of fans to experience the action live at what many consider the Cathedral of Counter-Strike.

The competition will showcase 24 participating teams across three distinct phases: Play-Ins, Groups, and Playoffs. During the Play-Ins, the bottom 16 squads will compete for 8 available slots in the Group Stage. The 16 qualified teams will then be divided into two separate 8-team GSL format brackets.

ESL plans to expand the Playoff stage presence at the Cathedral, increasing the number of qualifying teams from 6 to 8. Additionally, the tournament structure will include a third-place match before the Grand Finals conclude the event.

Fans eager to attend the final four days—running from August 12 through August 15—can secure their tickets starting at 3:00 pm CEST on October 15, 2026. These tickets will only be offered as a complete four-day package.

Select community members will gain early access through an exclusive presale beginning at 3:00 pm CEST on October 13, with invitations being distributed to eligible participants.
