Counter-Strike fans are getting a major map pool shake-up as Valve confirms Cache will be joining the Active Duty rotation for Premier Season 5, replacing Overpass in the process.
The official Counter-Strike X account delivered the news, announcing that Premier Season 4 will conclude on July 6. When Season 5 begins, Overpass exits the competitive lineup and Cache makes its long-awaited comeback.
Cache first entered the Active Duty pool in 2014 during Operation Breakout, earning the distinction of being the only community-made map to ever reach competitive rotation in CS:GO. It remained a staple for nearly five years until Valve removed it in March 2019 to bring in Vertigo, a move that disappointed many longtime players.
The journey back took time. In May 2025, creator FMPONE (Shawn Snelling) revealed that Valve had acquired the map's rights. Valve then undertook a complete overhaul, implementing optimization improvements and layout modifications before adding Cache to CS2 in the April 2026 update across Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch, and Retakes modes. However, it remained absent from the Premier map pool until this announcement.
Overpass, while technically challenging and capable of producing exciting professional gameplay, has been rotated in and out of Active Duty in recent seasons. This time, it makes way for a community favorite that players have been requesting for years.
With Season 4 wrapping up July 6, players have limited time to earn their Premier Season 4 medal, which requires 25 wins and a visible CSR. After that deadline, Cache takes center stage once again.
