Aurora's in-game leader Damjan "kyxsan" Stoilkovski has opened up about his team's progress and addressed recent public criticism following their top-four finish at ESL Pro League.
The 26-year-old North Macedonian spoke candidly about Aurora's development since he joined the international roster. While acknowledging the team had a rocky start, he sees clear signs of improvement, particularly in their mental approach to matches.
"Our mentality is so much better compared to two months ago," kyxsan explained after their arena victory. "It's something we work on every day. There are still games where it's not the best, but this might be one of the things sometimes stopping us from playing better."
Working with experienced players like XANTARES and woxic presents unique challenges, especially when it comes to changing ingrained habits. However, kyxsan remains optimistic. "XANTARES still loves the game so much. He cares and tries to do everything to improve. We're working together to find a way that works for everyone."
The leader also praised his partnership with coach Ashley "ash" Battye, calling their connection "really good" and highlighting ash's role in preparing the team and maintaining positive mentality during crucial matches.
Addressing recent comments from Nikola "NiKo" Kovač about his ability to handle feedback during their time together on Falcons, kyxsan suggested the criticism didn't tell the complete story. "What he said might be true for the last month or two, but he didn't mention the first year. It's taken a bit out of context."
Still, the young leader maintains a professional attitude. "I'm always open to feedback. When you play with so many experienced and good players, you can learn from every one of them. I'm happy to be learning from all my ex-teammates and current teammates."
